In the Texas tradition, D&W BBQ Sauce is tomato-based, runs thin, and is more tangy than sweet. While it loses some complexity after being cooked, out of the jar it has great layers of flavor that were strong enough to hold up to Lone Star standards like brisket and sausage.

Honey-Brined and Smoked Turkey

Honey-Brined Smoked Turkey

Thanksgiving has come to represent not just the tradition of my family coming together for a meal we're bound to eating for days, but also the pre-Thanksgiving meal I share with my friends where we enjoy the spoils of my seasonal recipe testing. While I'm keen on keeping a set of solid recipes I make every year with my family, the friends meal is consistently different, which breeds comfort in its own way. For one thing, there will always be a smoked turkey, but the need for a different variety each year makes this an incredibly fun part of the meal to experiment with, most which turn out great, like this honey-brined and smoked turkey.

Crispy Mustard Brussels Sprouts

Brussel Sprouts

I never knew I liked brussels sprouts until I grilled them. I can say that about so many foods as grilling has been the medium that's taken me from a sheltered to a serious eater, but this goes double true for sprouts.

While growing up, I don't think I ever once encountered brussels sprouts at home. With an inherited aversion, I assumed I must hate them too. This aversion didn't end when I decided to try them either; I remember my first taste being one of bitterness and disgust paired with a feeling of comfort that avoidance thus far was well justified. Then one day I decided to take them on again, this time on the grill, and I what I learned surprised me and transformed the way I look at brussels sprouts forever.

Breakfast Pizza

Breakfast Pizza

While I have you up and grilling sausages for breakfast, might as well take that a step further and turn those deliciously spiced patties into some extra special, breakfast pizza! While I was slightly apprehensive about what the results of this might be, it turns out that throwing an entire morning meal onto some grilled pizza dough is not only a great idea, it produces some incredible eats.
