Meat-a-thon

Last year a couple Meatwavers maxed out on meat and booze and found themselves incapacitated to make the arduous journey from Queens to Manhattan. So they spent the night and as we all slowly awoke the next morning I got to thinking, what could be a better cure for a meat hangover than more meat! Unfortunately I was unprepared that day, but born was the idea of the Meat-a-thon—an all out meat eating weekend. This past weekend was the first of the Meat-a-thons, which I hope will be become a yearly traditions, that spanned two days, three world cup games, and what seemed to be endless waves of meat.

Meat in the Middle

Nothing stops the meat! That's my mantra through rain, sleet, or snow—the meat must go on. This method of grilling a chicken vertically over a beer-can—producing a perfect juiciness—has been in the repertoire since my early days of grilling. It's because of this that I always thought of it as old hat—nothing needing to be picked over in any detail on this blog—but the revelation that some new Meatwavers had never had it has made me rethink that position. So, for the devout, this post may reveal nothing new, but for uninitiated, for heaven's sake, go grab a can of beer and chicken and get this on the grill now!

The Meating of Life

The quest for the meaning of life starts and ends here. Those countless spent philosophizing of that one pesky question is laughable to us Meatwavers, because we know and have always known the only true answer—Meat! That's right, life is and will always be all about the meat, and that's exactly what we rejoiced in this past weekend as we devoured 3 racks of ribs, 2 beer-can chickens, and a mess of beans cooked with a pound of bacon.
