Breakfast Sausage
I go straight into hoarding mode at the first sign of cooling air. My summer freezer, once bare except a bag of ice and a container of homemade ice cream, starts filling with meats to get me through the fall and winter. One thing that's hard to live without during the cold winter months is a good breakfast sausage—perfect for a cold, lazy winter morning with some eggs and toast. Of course, whatever you don't freeze right away is prime for grilling while there's still light and the mornings are more brisk than frigid.

Curried Pumpkin Soup
How can you not have pumpkins on the mind this time of year? While most will pass by the local grocery or pumpkin patch and think of little more than jack-o-lanterns, I see another item well suited for grilling. Trying to drop a few pounds the hefty last few Meatwaves have added, I've been on a little soup bender, which just so happens to meld perfectly with my desire to grill pumpkins, combining to create this curried pumpkin soup.

Planked Maple-Mustard Pork Tenderloin
Albeit I'm a bit ashamed of not liking seafood much, I also don't hide it. It's for this very reason that after more than eight years of grilling here, you have not seen one planking recipe. I've always equated planking with seafood (when searching for recipes, it can be hard to get many beyond planked salmon), but after seeing the breadth of what my blogging buddy Mike was doing over at Another Pint Please, I formed a drastically different picture of what planking can be.

Habanero Barbecue Wings
Me and my immune system are engaged in an epic battle. For most of the month of July and into August I was in a continual attack against a sinus infection that just didn't want to give up, with spicy jerk skewers being some of the only relief I could find. Finally I gained the upper hand, but that 'itis just didn't want to quit. Now I find myself relapsed in a stuffy nose, coughing, and achy hell. While I've rebounded from last week, when I couldn't even muster the energy to write, I'm still suffering and am once again looking to food for relief. An extra hot tom yum soup last night was great, but with my appetite coming back, I need something meatier that also delivers just as much mouth burning heat, and these habanero barbecue wings fit that bill nicely.

Chicken Sausage with Basil and Tomatoes
On my god, you're going to hate me. Remember how excited I was to get a 5-lb vertical stuffer for my birthday back in January? Well, in my small kitchen, I found a rather inconvenient place to store this giant and there is sat, unused all summer. I had every intention of using it way sooner, but it didn't happen, and I deserve the shame that comes with that. There's good news though, I finally busted it out and made some stellar sausages. Not these sausages in particular, but to be honest, this chicken sausages with basil and tomatoes were a bit better than what I made recently—actually these chicken sausages were some of the best I've ever made!
