Despite a distaste for making bread, my pursuits of grilling bread tend to be at least marginally successful. So I thought a Meatwave revolving around grilled bread would equal some good times and good eats.
When considering what type of meats to fill this bread, I came the the decision that an all out Greek feast would fit the bill quite nicely. I started researching how to make those soft pocketless Greek pitas, but the more I read, the more it sounded like they really needed to be made in the oven to get the correct consistency. Already excited about a menu of souvlaki, bifteki, and gyros, I decided to ditch the bread making and side with the meat—purchasing pitas to be filled an array of delicious grilled meats.

BOOM! That's the sound of the Meatomic Bomb dropping, and the resulting shockwaves of meat hit us all hard this past Sunday. Fiery foods ripped through the neighborhood all day long, while the Meatwavers attempted to counteract all the destruction being imparted with the introduction of sweets. Oh glory of glories, it's Carne-val time once again, the celebration of everything that is meat! While last year's feast focused on many varieties of meat, this year honed in on the swine, and a lot of it. Despite some rainfall, most made it out to revel in the meat and make this year's Carne-val fantastic.

Last year a couple Meatwavers maxed out on meat and booze and found themselves incapacitated to make the arduous journey from Queens to Manhattan. So they spent the night and as we all slowly awoke the next morning I got to thinking, what could be a better cure for a meat hangover than more meat! Unfortunately I was unprepared that day, but born was the idea of the Meat-a-thon—an all out meat eating weekend. This past weekend was the first of the Meat-a-thons, which I hope will be become a yearly traditions, that spanned two days, three world cup games, and what seemed to be endless waves of meat.
